Who they are

For three seasons the threat was a wordless creature and a shapeless shadow. Vecna is the first antagonist in the series who can talk, argue and explain himself, and he attacks through grief rather than through doors. Targeting the characters' guilt turned the show's horror inward, and the sequence built around a song used as a lifeline became a genuine cultural moment.
