Maleficent curses an infant because she was not invited to a party, and she does it with such grandeur that the pettiness becomes magnificent. Marc Davis's design, all black horns and sharp angles against a stylized medieval backdrop, is arguably the single most influential villain drawing ever produced by a studio. She also turns into a dragon, which settled the argument permanently.
