Who they are

Bane is not a bruiser. He is a strategist who happens to be enormous. His signature victory involves emptying Arkham Asylum, letting Gotham's entire rogues gallery exhaust Batman over weeks, and only then walking into the manor to finish it. The physical fight is a formality; the campaign that precedes it is why he is respected.

Defining traits

Venom strength enhancerSelf-taught polymathLong-game strategyImmense willpowerRaised in prison from birth

What makes them dangerous

He wins by attrition. By the time he shows up personally, the hero has nothing left.

And what undoes them

The Venom tubes. Cut the supply and he is running on willpower alone.

Things you might not know

  • He was created for a single storyline and immediately became permanent because the plan was so well constructed.
  • In several stories he quits Venom entirely and remains a top-tier threat on discipline alone.
  • The 2012 film reworked his voice and mask, and the muffled delivery required extensive re-recording after early screenings.

Why number 14 in Comics

He empties an asylum, lets the rogues gallery exhaust his target over weeks, and only then shows up. The campaign is why he is respected, not the fight.
