Who they are

A shapeshifting assassin made of mimetic polyalloy, the T-1000 can walk through prison bars, impersonate anyone it touches, and reassemble after being shot to pieces. Cameron cast a lean runner instead of a bodybuilder precisely so the threat would read as speed and inevitability rather than muscle. The visual effects were a generational leap, and the character has aged better than almost any of its imitators.
