Who they are

Alex is a teenage gang leader who loves classical music and violence in equal measure, and the film puts you inside his point of view so completely that the state's attempt to cure him becomes uncomfortable to watch. It is a genuinely difficult piece of storytelling: you are asked to be revolted by him and then to object when his free will is removed.
